Just in case these haven't been noticed yet

A couple of news stories worth noting...

Some of SonyBMG's latest CDs install some pretty nasty DRM software when played on PCs under Windows.
-- The Inquirer (the exploit mentioned in the article is a way of hiding hacks for World of Warcraft)
-- Mark's Sysinternals (a pretty technical look at exactly what gets installed and the problems inherent in removing it)


Taking the insanity with patents to new heights, a patent application has just been published for a particular plot of a novel/ movie/ game/ whatever.

oh dear god! What's next? We're going to start having patented thought processes? Then we can be sued for thinking a certain way without paying for a license or getting special permission.

And now my new CD's will blow up my computer...for Christ's sake what the hell??
